I am an American realist painter with an international perspective cultivated by global travel and living. My work includes landscapes, still life, and portraits of people and animals. My intent is to create paintings that feel relaxed, modern, and engaging, while using formal nineteenth-century painting techniques. With an eye for beauty and a passion for stories, I explore a nuanced and sophisticated balance of control and spontaneity, subtle tones and elegantly glazed shifts of color. Areas so precisely drawn they appear photographic ease into others that are gestural and textured, supporting thick impasto that begs to be touched. 

 

In my free time I'm a writer, sailor, and passionate  equestrian. My studio assistant is a German Shepherd named Indiana Jones who often sleeps on the job.
